About

Welcome to the kitchen.

On Labor Day of 2018, I was diagnosed with leukemia and began treatment the following day.  While sitting in the hospital and clinics, I had time to think.  I am married (Lindsay) and have four kids (Mathias, Nickolas, Ashley, and Katie) and thought about them a lot.

After spending three month in the hospital doing my first round of Hyper CVAD, I was able to finish the last three rounds from home (more or less) One day, I got up and was met by Nickolas who asked if he could make hash browns for breakfast. This made me think about how often the kids like to help in the kitchen and how often I liked helping my mom and dad. My oldest boy had recently shown some interest in photography and computer coding.  I thought that a blog where we could share food and practice photography might be a great project.

I have often shared food and recipes with my brother and sisters and wanted to get my recipes organized and keep them where the whole family can get to them.  While looking at different options on the internet, I came across WordPress. It looked like even an old person couldn’t mess it up.

I am not a great cook, but if the kids will spend time with me in the kitchen–I’ll take it.
