We love tacos. When cinco de mayo came, we didn’t have any tacos. We also didn’t have any meat except for hamburger. Dad told us to try making carne asada with the ground beef.
Here is a link to our experiment: https://youtu.be/VShfAxWA0DI
Normally you marinate the meat over night to get all the flavors soaked in before grilling. We didn’t want to marinate the hamburger, so we took the ingredients for the marinade and adjusted them to make a carne asada taco seasoning.
What We used
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 tbls soy sauce
- 3 tbls lime juice
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 diced serrano pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
What We Did
We cooked the ground beef and drained the fat. We didn’t cook it so much that it got any crispy parts. Then we added all the ingredients and mixed together while frying for a little bit longer. We tasted the meat as we went and added stuff we wanted. The recipe above are the amounts we put in altogether.
We heated up some corn tortillas and loaded them with the meat and some onion and cilantro that we diced up. Then we splashed on some extra lime juice and ate them up.
Did It Work?
This definitely worked. We thought these were delicious. Our dad ate a whole bunch of them. All the meat was gone really fast.
