Katie loves helping in the kitchen. She wanted to make some bread and a video. So I told her if she can memorize the recipe and how to make it, I would help her make a video. She worked hard to get it all memorized. This is one of the first videos I made and the quality is bad, but Katie did a great job making her bread.

Making

Ingredients
- 3 cups flour (plus some extra)
- 1 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp yeast
Directions
- You can bloom your yeast in the water if you are not sure that is alive. We have been using this yeast a lot, so we just dump it in together.
- Mix all the ingredients together until combined well.
- Cover and let set in a warm place for about an hour or until the size has doubled.
- The dough will probably look wet. Don’t worry that’s just the way this one works. Mix in some additional flour until the dough is not sticky and feels like bread dough. If you don’t get enough flour the loaf may turn out a little flat when you pull it out of the oven. Don’t worry, it happens from time to time especially when i make it in a hurry. Just try again, you’ll get it.
- Place the loaf on some parchment paper and let it rise for another hour or until its doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 450 F.
- When the oven is hot, preheat a Dutch oven for 5-10 minutes.
- When the dough has doubled in size, place parchment paper and dough into the Dutch oven with the lid on and cook for 40 minutes.
- Remove the lid for the last 10 minutes to allow the crust to brown up. You can lengthen or shorten this time to get a crust you like.
Extras
Add some cheddar and jalapenos.
Add a cup of Parmesan cheese.
Add some caramelized onions and roasted garlic.
Add some Everything but the Bagel spice mix.
Trying
This bread disappears fast when we make it. It make a great grilled cheese sandwich, especially when you mix in the Parmesan cheese into the dough. It is also great with the Everything but the Bagel spice mix.
